Tìm hiểu về chuẩn DVB-S2X

The new DVB-S2X standard, released in Feb 2014, results in yet another 15-30% efficiency gain in a typical distribution network. Combined with other advanced transmission technologies, such as Newtec Equalink® Pre-distortion and DVB multistream operation, network optimizations can result in doubling the capacity at the same OPEX!
10 Improvements in DVB-S2X
  • Smaller roll-offs
  • Advanced filtering of satellite carriers
  • Increased granularity in MODCODs
  • Higher order modulation: 64/128/256 APSK support
  • Linear and non-linear MODCODs
  • Better implementation of MODCODs
  • Wideband support
  • Very low SNR support for mobile applications
  • Channel bonding
  • Additional standard scrambling sequences to mitigate co-channel-interference (CCI)

Backward compatible alternative to new DVB-S2X standard
Boston, MA, April 24, 2014 – NovelSat, a world leader in satellite transmission technologies, introduced DVB-S2 with 5% ROF, a DVB-S2 backward-compatible alternative to the new DVB-S2X (Digital Video Broadcast S2 Extensions) standard approved by the DVB Project consortium in March, 2014.
DVB-S2X provides, on average, 2.2% higher throughput than DVB-S2 with 5% ROF from NovelSat. Yet unlike DVB-S2X, DVB-S2 with %5 roll-off factor (ROF) from NovelSat is fully backward compatible with the DVB-S2 standard. This is a critical factor for organizations who want to remain standards-based or are looking to use their existing DVB-S2-based IRDs.
The DVB-S2X standard features finer MODCOD granularity including higher modulation schemes up to 64APSK, ROF as low as 5% compared to 20% in DVB-S2 and linear channel modes for use in multi-carrier per transponder configurations. These and other enhancements improve satellite bandwidth efficiency for broadcast by no more than 5% on average compared with the DVB-S2 standard. Mostly because of minimal performance improvement and lack of backward compatibility, ASIC vendors have not widely announced support for DVB-S2X chipsets.

Satellite Bandwidth Efficiency: DVB-S2X vs Novelsat DVB-S2 with 5% ROF
NovelSat is commited to supporting all standards including the DVB-S2X standard. However, for standards-minded broadcasters who are considering moving to DVB-S2X, NovelSat recommends upgrading to a version of the new standard, such as DVB-S2 with 5% ROF from NovelSat. It is nearly equal in performance to the new DVB-S2X standard and also offers backward-compatibility and a path for future growth.
While DVB-S2 with 5% ROF is a standards-based solution, NovelSat is better known for NovelSat NS3, the industry's leading satellite transmission technology since 2011. NovelSat NS3 typically improves spectral efficiency by 40% and as much as 62% compared with gear based on industry standard DVB-S2 technology and delivers superior resilience to interference and jamming, weather fluctuations and phase noise. NovelSat recently announced that NovelSat NS3 offers the lowest roll-off factor at only 2%.
"In fact, the performance benefits and commercial success of NovelSat NS3 were among the main triggers leading to the development of the DVB-S2X standard," said Dan Peleg, NovelSat VP R&D.

Although not based on industry standards, NovelSat NS3 can be found in more than 3,000 installations around the world, including in the satellite transmission gear used by some of the largest global broadcasters, communications providers and military bodies.
